The ENGILA Program strongly encourages use of syllabuses in classes. Syllabus is given to each student during the first class session to explain the content and objectives of a course.
A syllabus should contain the following information about the course: contact information of the instructor; outline of the subjects to be covered in the course by week; test dates and the due dates for assignments; grading policy; a list of required readings and a separate list of suggested readings for the course.
Students will thus know what to study for a class in a given week, what to read to prepare for that class, what assignments are expected of them to do, and when they are to submit assignments, etc.
Therefore, course instructors of the ENGILA Program are strongly urged to prepare a course syllabus to hand out to students in the first class session.
